Credit Scores, College Loans, and Budgeting Advice
There is a concern as to whether or not it is possible to get a college loan on bad credit. It is possible, as the federal government does not consider credit history a factor for taking out these loans.
Knowing this you can for the most part be assured you will receive money for college. Of course, this does not mean you should go absolutely crazy. You should take it upon yourself to create a budgeting plan that will help you get to where you want to be in life.
Student Budgeting Tips
If you want to avoid taking out too many loans that you may have a hard time paying back later here are some valuable budgeting tips. Using these tips can help you immensely.
Cut down on frivolous purchases. For instance, do you really need all those single servings of soda, juice, and coffee? You probably could buy these items in bulk if you must have them. This would save you quite a bit of money.
Avoid payday loans and other high-interest borrowing. This is one area that could affect many college students. It may seem very easy to do at the time and a good idea when you are in a financial crunch. However, if you do this too many times it can really put you in a bind.
Find ways to conserve. For instance, anything you can throw away you probably can find as a reusable item. Sometimes people even wash out resalable zipper-top garbage bags. They might also use plastic food containers and jugs if they do not have enough money to purchase additional items.
Use alternative transportation. It may not always be convenient to take the bus, subway, train, metro or whatever you call it in your college location. However, if the bus stop is right outside your door and it leads right to the college campus you could save yourself on gas and parking fees. It is something to consider.
Set aside emergency money. This will help avoid you having to do what you probably do not want to do by now anyway-make a call home to ask your family for more money. If you set aside even a very small amount it will help you not be so broke when you need the money the most.
Additional Advice
It might also help you to seek financial counseling. This will help you especially when you are younger so you can learn wise spending habits. This is especially important if you have never been taught this by an adult previously.
